WHAT'S HAPPENING
"If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen." (1 Peter 4:11)
HARVEST CELEBRATIONS 2023
DAILY BREAD
A Harvest poem written by Les Penrice

Boxed, canned or wrapped in plastic,
Pleasing? to catch the eye,
A harvest from the World,
We can harvest at midnight,
On line or in the aisle’s.
Clean hands, no earth sticking to our feet,
Dirt between our fingernails,
Or thoughts of farmers in Mexico’s high sierra’s,
Walking the tightrope between feast and famine,
Or hungry mouths in the Horn of Africa.
Dust bowl turns to quagmire,
Soils washed away in the rain,
Fertile fields turned into a barren plain,
Forest felled in South America,
Trees reduced to memory’s.
Wood pulp turned into cardboard boxes,
And brightly printed paper label,
Best eaten before the wind and the rain,
Changed the landscape,
And supermarkets shelves runs low.
Rationed food, running on empty,
And people’s perception in prayer,
May start to change,
When we recite,
Give us this day our daily bread.
