FUNERAL SERVICES

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 14:27

BEREAVEMENT

When someone dear to us dies, we can be overwhelmed by sadness as well as the many practicalities that need to be arranged in preparation for funeral service.

We can help to support you during this difficult time, pastorally and spiritually, as well as practically.

FUNERAL SERVICE

The message at all Church of England funerals, whether they take place in the church or at crematorium, is one of hope. Although there is sadness because someone you know and love has died, there will also be a message of hope in life after death. Christians believe that when we die, God promises that we will be with him in a wonderful place where death and pain are gone forever.

Whatever the circumstances of death, these words of hope are a great comfort to those who attend a funeral. Hope is not just for the person who has died, it’s for the people who remain behind. It gives us something to hold on to. Whether you wish to arrange the funeral service in our church or whether you would like one of our ministers to take the funeral service in Crematorium, we will be there to support you every step of the way. From the moment you are in touch with us, throughout the funeral service, and for as long as you need us afterwards, we're here for you.

SERVICE OF LIGHT AND THANKSGIVING

Every year we hold an annual memorial service called Service of Light on Sunday evening close to the feast of All Souls. We alternate between North Marston and Granborough Church. This service gives us an opportunity to remember those who have died before God and to light a candle in their memory, to say prayers and reflect on the memories of those who were and remain to be so dear to us.  Everyone is welcome to come to this service. If you would like someone to be remembered by name during this ceremony, please let us know.

PRAYER

Hear us, o merciful Father
as we remember in love those whom we have placed into your hands.
Enfold them in the arms of your mercy. May they rest in peace and rise in glory and may light perpetual shine upon them.

Amen
